30 Years of Insomnia
I was referred to Deborah by my physician, because I had been suffering from insomnia for over 30 years, and stress for some time. Ever since the birth of my daughter decades before, I couldn’t stop myself from waking up every night after two or three hours of sleeping. Then I would toss and turn for a couple of hours, thoughts running round and round in my head. If I ever managed to get back to sleep, then another couple of hours later I would wake up again and be awake again for another few hours, sometimes even until the morning, my mind just going round and round in circles. I would plan the kitchen decoration or our next vacation in the middle of the night to stay positive.
I have a pretty stressful job running my own little company, especially since the economy has been so tough in France, and I was at the end of my rope with exhaustion from never having a good night’s sleep. I had tried everything, from sleep recordings to sleeping pills, but I am very conscious about what I eat and staying healthy, so I just hated taking the pills.
But I was also so stressed that I just couldn’t relax, no matter what I did. I didn’t know HOW to relax. I did try a few relaxation courses, but they just weren’t for me.
I really liked Deborah from the start. She has a very easy way about her and I found I was able to open up and talk to her. At the very first session she did several questionnaires with me and then we set the very specific goals that I wanted to achieve: getting off the sleeping pills altogether; getting a full night of six hours of unbroken sleep; learning how to calm myself down and stay calm even when my extra-difficult client is being extra-difficult; learning how to do self-hypnosis to become my own therapist.
Already after the second session, with the work and the hypnosis Deborah did with me, for the first time in 30 years I was able to sleep through the night. I realized that I didn’t need the pills at all, and was able to give them up with no problem! I just had been doing so many things wrong, and with the recording of the hypnosis to work with and reinforce the session with Deborah, I was amazed, I really had such a huge improvement in my sleep. I decided to do another session on insomnia, and I learned about how to relax myself in hypnosis, which was great for working on my stress, and after that third session my employees started telling me I seemed so much calmer and different.
All to say, Deborah really changed my life for the better, and my husband is very grateful too, because he also got the benefit of the positive changes I was making in my sleep and how I handle stress. I can’t recommend her enough. Thank you, Deborah!
